S/Y Klaus Størtebeker, a real classic sailboat

Made for safe and comfortable cruising

S/Y Klaus Størtebeker is a real classic sailboat, that despite being 45 years, is in good shape and ready for long distance cruising. While the beautiful lines are timeless, the onboard systems and equipment have been kept up to date. The interior is spacious, yet modest, at least compared to many modern vessels. The Galley is suitable for cooking for a full crew, and the salon seats 8. There are 5 cabins, of which one is mostly used for storage, while the other 4 each have ensuite bathrooms with sink and head (toilette).

Klaus is made of high quality aluminium from a design by naval architects McCurdy & Rhodes. The heavy deep keel yields a stiff ship with minimal heeling even in strong winds.

His story

Klaus størtebeker was built by Dieter Wendland in Saint Thomas in 1979 for comfortable charter in the Caribbean. Dieter and his wife Monika sailed around the world 1984-88, and later twice to Europe, were they finally sold Klaus in 2000. We bought him in 2022. As far as we know we are the sixth owners. we have sailed Klaus two seasons in Scandinavia and crossed the Atlantic Ocean,  Caribbean Sea, Panama Canal and Pacific Ocean. We are now cruising the South Pacific  expecting to sail on to the New Zealand November 2025.
